I really did it. This morning I put on a sports bra, laced up my sneaks and headed outside to hit the pavement. (Don't worry, I wore more than that.)
I hated almost every minute of it. But mostly just because right before the sun makes an appearance that early in the morning, my neighborhood is downright creepy. I started listing these things mentally during my run. You know, to give me motivation to get home instead of curling up on a ball in the middle of the street, waiting for a car to flatten me. Sometimes that seem like a more viable weight-loss option, I won't lie. Anyways, here they are.
1. Wind.
2. Wind chimes.
3. Abandoned children's toys strewn about in the front yard.
3. Sirens.
4. That person walking 200 feet away from me. Is it a rapist?
5. Crows/any bird making noise.
6. That sound a stick made when I stepped on it.
7. Forgetting my glasses. (Isn't that how horror movies start? When people can't see clearly? I don't know, I've never seen one. But that sounds like a great opening. Hollywood, feel free to use that idea.)
8. Trees.
9. Signposts.
10. That little house that usually looks cute in daylight - right now it looks like where a wicked witch would live.
11. Frozen puddles.
That's all I can remember. I think it's pretty safe to say that almost everything creeps me out that early in the morning. I mean, I live in a really safe area; it's not like I have a reason to be scared of anything. It's just...those moments before the sun comes up seem really unfriendly.
That and I constantly think that the more I run, the less chance I have of being able to out-run someone chasing me. I'd already be tired, so that'd give them an advantage, right? Does anyone else think like this??
Could add another thing to your list, however, you wouldn't hear it while running...could be your momma singing lovely songs to wake you, so perhaps you best keep running! Soon it will be light at that time. Way to go!!
ReplyDeleteI don't believe in early morning running unless it's on a treadmill, inside somewhere safe :D You're brave!
ReplyDeleteNo, I definitely wouldn't hear you singing Mom!
ReplyDeleteAnd Holly I am not sure if I am brave or stupid. (Plus I am too cheap to buy a treadmill.)
