What a blur of a weekend. My cousin came in Friday night, and was a positive delight to hang out with all weekend. I say that with no sarcasm. And not just because she bought me dinner :)
We went to the Sugarbowl and ate delicious stir fry, and it was there that she talked me into my first beer. I know, 6 months until my 25th birthday and I am just tasting my first beer. What can I say, I'm a late bloomer. I still don't know how I made it through college sober. I really could have used a drink on more than a few days back then.
Come to think of it, I also had my first Long Island Tea with her. And my first shot. And my first glass of champagne, which we popped the cork off of from her 15th floor balcony. Hmmm, she might be a bad influence on me.
Anyways, I think it's almost a rule to have some sort of alcoholic drink there. Two thirds of their menu is dedicated to the longest list of beers I have ever seen, along with a small selection of cocktails.
I chose kind of a cheating, girly beer. It was called Früli Strawberry and it was delicious. It definitely didn't have that strong, beer-y taste that I have always avoided. I think that comes from living across the street from a brewery for 3 years. Whenever I smell that fermented yeast smell, I am reminded of soggy cornflakes and St. Carlos Place and terrible green patterned border clashing with my teal green multi-coloured couch from 1990. So you can see how smelling beer would be horrible for me.
She also talked me into my first taste of tofu. I think I'll stick with the beer.
You?! Beer???!!! I can't imagine......
